A Journey Through Time

Crazy Boy Records 2002

Originally intended as the soundtrack to the documentary, “Into The Night: The Benny Mardones Story,” A Journey Through Time was released in 2002, unlike the movie which should finally be released in 2008.

There are thousands of Mardones fans out there nearly all of them won over by this 1980 ballad “Into the Night” long a staple of adult contemporary radio which peaked at #11 in the year of its release and at #20 as a re-recording in 1989. This functions as a musical biography but a newly-written one since all of the songs are new recordings. Mardones takes the tactic of recording songs that are important to him whether they’re new songs or covers illustrating their significance in his liner notes. It’s a clearly but not extravagantly produced album and Mardones sings with conviction giving this album real spine. The acoustic version of “Into the Night” reveals that Mardones can still breathe life into a song he’s sung countless of times.  “I Need A Miracle” received national play and charted on the A/C charts.

Includes the song “Fool For Falling In Love,” written by Benny and Roy Orbison and an acoustic of the classic, “Into The Night.”
